Nick Halkes Manager of the Prodigy, Producer, Remixer, DJ and founder of XL Recordings will share his story on working as an A&R at the legendary Positiva Records UK and being fortunate to sign those killer New York City House Tracks during the golden era of the 1990s. He will school you all on what it truly takes to be a top guy in the music industry today with the constant changes in the biz.

TRUE HOUSE STORIES W/ MIKE DUNN # 080 - PART 2
Word soon spread about his talents and Mike Dunn was booked for various clubs in and around Chicago, DJ’ing with house music innovators such as Ron Hardy, Larry Heard and good friend Armando Gallop. It wasn’t long before Mike got the production bug, resulting in his first release in 1987, “Dance You Mutha” on Westbrook Records, he also started to produce and engineer for other Chicago artists, such as Armando, Fast Eddie and K-Alexi Shelby. More house and techno productions followed in the late 80s with Mike’s distinctive vocal delivery and trademark hip-house, acid, production style, to create tracks such as ‘Let It Be House’, ‘Magic Feet’ and “Face the Nation”, sometimes under the name Mike Dunn but also under aliases such as MD Connection, MDIII and QX-1. He continued to produce and release throughout the 1990s, with releases on labels such as Nervous, Nitestuff and Tribal America, whilst also working with other producers and vocalists such as Syleena Johnson, Byron Stingley, Mina Jackson, Kool Rock Steady and Kym English to name a few. Puff Daddy in the late1990s stepped to Mike and signed him to a production deal with the artists he managed and produced in hip hop artists. The original OG of Holloway Road in London Richard West shares his life from the beginning. West was born in London in 1965. He started MCing in the London clubs aged 16 and earned a reputation as a fast-talking, vivacious rapper working with LWR radio's Ron Tom, Jasper the Vinyl Junkie and Jazzy M. He joined with Colin Faver and Evil Eddie Richards to become resident rapper at Camden Palace. Mr C recorded his first house track with Eddie Richards as Myster-E, "Page 67", which was released in August 1987. This inspired West to become a DJ in late 1987. He has since organized, promoted and been resident DJ at: Fantasy (1988), Base (Dungeons 1989), Release (1991), Harmony (1992), Drop (1993), Cyclone (1994), Vapourspace (1994 and 1995), Flavour (The End, 1995 and 1996), Subterrain (The End, 1995–2002), Superfreq (worldwide 2002–present) and Super Disco Freq (LA, 2010–present).

Studio: The Studio is designed by Camilo Rodriguez who worked for Mirror Image Recording NYC. His design style is very reminiscent of Francis Mazella from FM Designs. The mains in the room are the legendary Auspburger Horns. The studio has state of the art computer and a classic SSL 6000 E/G+ mixing desk with excellent outboard gear. Every record you ever heard in the last 30 years has somehow found its way to being mixed on this style desk.
